Xavier has spent his career at the intersection of music, math, and technology. A lifelong lover of hip hop, R&B, and film music, he built deep roots in the music industry, working across music production, artist management, and the leadership of independent record labels. That hands-on experience gave him a rare view of how music is made, marketed, and sustained from the studio to the business side.
Alongside his work in music, Xavier built a strong career in data science and engineering, including time at IBM and consulting work with government organizations, where he designed and built data infrastructure at scale. Driven by a love of mathematics and a particular fascination with dynamical systems, he has long operated in two worlds that rarely speak the same language. Now, as part of Georgia Tech’s Music Technology program, he is bridging that gap, bringing the rigor of his technical background to the culture and craft he knows from inside the music industry, with the goal of driving innovation within the hip hop and R&B communities.
His research focuses on modeling the geometric structure of rapper flow and how it relates to the surrounding instrumentation, treating rhythm, cadence, and delivery as systems that can be mapped, measured, and better understood. Through this work, Xavier aims to create new tools and insights that honor the artistry of hip hop and R&B while opening fresh possibilities for the artists and producers who shape them.–
