Karthik’s research interests explore cognitive and mathematical representations of music, music and emotion, human aesthetic responses to music, as well as various areas in music perception and cognition. He is part of a Capstone project along with Heesuk Son, Yuri Wu, and Yihan Zhang that focuses on music generation from poetry through machine learning analysis of emotion from text and emotion-music generative models. Karthik is also a pianist, guitarist, and composer with a vast background in pop, rock, jazz, and experimental works.
